Sherri Eisenpress has built a distinguished career defined by public service, youth advocacy, judicial leadership, and sustained commitment to LGBTQ+ institutional growth in New York. Before taking the bench, she worked closely with developmentally disabled children and adults, dedicating herself to service-oriented roles that centered dignity, mentorship, and access to opportunity.
Her early leadership included years of service with Youth at Risk (now Unlocking Futures) in New York City, where she served as a mentor, board member, and board chairperson. Upon becoming a Family Court Judge, she later partnered with BOCES, Daytop, and other local organizations to bring structured mentoring programs for at-risk youth to Rockland County.
After two years as a Family Court Judge, she was appointed Acting Supreme Court Judge and assigned to preside over the Integrated Domestic Violence Court. She also presided over the Family Drug Treatment Court and served as the designated Youth Part judge in Rockland County during the implementation of New York’s Raise the Age legislation. In this leadership role, she conducted removal hearings under Criminal Procedure Law Article 722 and helped ensure coordinated implementation during the statute’s initial operational years.
Beyond the judiciary, Sherri Eisenpress has played a central governance role as Chairperson of the Rockland County Pride Center Board of Directors, helping guide institutional expansion, nonprofit governance, and the advancement of LGBTQ+ health equity initiatives in partnership with community and healthcare organizations. Her career reflects a consistent commitment to justice, infrastructure-building, and long-term community sustainability.
